Ian Talley had a very informative article in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
He pointed out "The volume of suspected ransomware payments flagged by U.S. banks has surged this year, on pace to nearly double last year’s, the Treasury Department said Friday, highlighting the scale of a problem that governments across the world have described as a critical national security threat."
He went on to point out that over 5 billion was reported by the US Treasury as being paid in bitcoin transactions for potential ransomware payments.
How good are your information technology general controls? Have you paid a ransom?
It is about time that the President of the United States takes actual action to strike out at the countries that harbor these ransomware terrorist.
Call your congressman and senator and put some real political pressure on this major problem.
